KARACHI: On Monday, the Sindh High Court (SHC) annulled Munawar Ali Shah appointment to the position of Inspector General of Prisons, Sindh. In response to a petition challenging Munawar Ali Shah’s appointment as the department’s inspector general of prisons, the court issued an order.

The petitioner’s attorney informed the court during the hearing that while Munawwar Shah had been given more authority by the Sindh government the previous year, on November 1st, his temporary charge was changed to a permanent appointment. The attorney claimed, “Munawar Shah’s appointment to the top position is tantamount to violating the rights of senior officers in the department.

Munawar Shah is a Grade-20 officer, but the position of IG Prison is for Grade-21 officers. He requested that Munawar Shah’s appointment as the IG of Prison Sindh be revoked by the court. Following the hearing of arguments, the court granted the petition and ruled that his appointment was unlawful.
