PR Is Working Nonstop To Reclaim 13,972 Acres Of Land – Pakistan Railways has stepped up its attempts to reclaim the majority of the 13,972 acres of land worth billions of rupees that have been illegally occupied by various government departments and private people nationwide. An official in the Ministry told a state-run news agency, “Around 5,809 acres were occupied in Punjab, 1,181 acres are under encroachment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5,948 acres in Sindh, and 1,034 acres land occupied in Balochistan.”

According to him, the types of land that were illegally occupied included commercial, residential, agricultural, and belonging to different individuals or departments. Explaining the land’s specifics, the official stated that roughly 769 acres were used for commercial purposes across all provinces, 3,309 acres for residential use, 5,512 acres for agricultural use, and 4382 acres that were being encroached upon by different individuals or agencies.

According to the official, the department has also made the decision to step up its nationwide anti-encroachment campaign against land grabbers in order to recover the land from various people, organizations, and even commercial enterprises that have been utilizing it for decades for residential, commercial, and agricultural purposes.

The official continued, “All Divisional Superintendents of Pakistan Railways have been issued the joint procedure orders to retrieve the railway land from encroachers.”

As a result, he stated, the appropriate divisions are starting anti-encroachment operations to retrieve encroached Railway land throughout the Railway network, and encroachers are receiving notifications under the Possession Ordinance 1965 to vacate Railway land/structure within 14 days.

According to the official, law enforcement agencies, district administrations, and Pakistan Railway Police are all notified about the support that is required for anti-encroachment operations.

He added that the duties assigned to Railway authorities within Railway Station premises, the concerned Station Master, within and around the colony premises, Inspector of Works, and Railway Police will further check and restrict future encroachments.

“In accordance with the joint procedure order, the anti-encroachment schedules are being prepared and sent to all concerned on a three-month basis,” he stated, adding that the operation will be carried out with support from the Railway Police and the district administrations of the relevant provincial governments.

PR reportedly held 167,690 acres of land in the nation, with 90,326 acres located in Punjab, 39,428 acres in Sindh, 28,228 acres in Balochistan, and 9,708 acres in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the official.
