May 9 Case Sheikh Rasheed Granted Bail, Order To Release Him From Adiala Jail

The anti-terrorism court of Rawalpindi approved the bail of former interior minister and head of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rasheed in the case of attack on the office of a sensitive institution. Newsalerts.pk’, anti-terrorism court judge Malik Ijaz Asif heard Sheikh Rasheed’s bail application. The court granted bail to Sheikh Rasheed on a surety bond of Rs 2 lakh and ordered his release from Adiala Jail. Earlier, Sheikh Rashid and his nephew Sheikh Rashid, including others, were granted bail in the GHQ attack case on January 16. The court was arrested.

It should be noted that after the arrest of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan from the premises of Islamabad High Court in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9, there was a nationwide protest by PTI, during which military, civil and Private installations were set on fire, public and private property was severely damaged while at least 8 people were killed and 290 injured.

Protesters also stormed the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore, also known as Jinnah House, and broke a gate of the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

After that, 1900 people involved in fighting, vandalism and arson were arrested across the country, while several cases were registered against other PTI leaders and workers including Imran Khan.
