AJK EC Issues Arrest Warrants For Ali Amin Gandapur

PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur has an arrest warrant out for him by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Azad Kashmir for allegedly breaking the code of conduct during the 2021 elections.  The commission has requested that the former minister be taken into custody in a letter addressed to Dera Ismail Khan’s deputy commission.  The notice instructs the PTI leader to appear on February 28 before the ECP Azad Kashmir. In response to a petition that attorney Raja Zulqarnain had brought against him during the 2021 election, the action was taken.

The announcement was made a few days after Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), proposed Ali Amin Gandapur, the leader of the party, to be Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister following the 2024 elections.

Khan, who is presently serving his term in had a casual talk with the media on Tuesday about a variety of cases in the Adiala Jail.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), was defeated by Gandapur to secure the seat in NA-44 Dera Ismail Khan-I constituency. In the elections held on February 8, he garnered 92,244 votes.  According to preliminary results released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the PTI-backed independent candidates secured 90 seats, with the JUI-P coming in second with seven seats. The PPP won four seats, while the PML-N took home five.
